Magician Dissolve Control
Create dazzling slide shows the easy way, with the help
of your personal computer and the Magician computerized dissolve unit.
This "top of the line" in our Image-ination ® Systems
allows you to dazzle your audience with fades, dissolves, animation, flips, alternating flash and
other special effects - all at the touch of a key on your personal computer.
Better yet, store up to 2047 special effects at a time - then step through them
manually or automatically, with or without your computer. If desired,
control an entire show with the remote cable from one of your projectors, without
giving up any of your special effects. For maximum audience impact, add a tape
recorder and synchronize your effects with a sound track.
All you need is three or more projectors and the Magician computerized dissolve
unit - the newest, smallest, most advanced dissolve unit ever. No other unit gives you
more power and flexibility. No other unit is easier to learn and use.
The Magician is the only dissolve unit that can be programmed with any IBM PC® or compatible, including laptops, without the need for add-in
circuit boards. The only one that comes with the TopHat(TM)
Presentation Manager - a software package that allows you to test new ideas, try new
sequences and fine tune your timing with ease. The only one that lets you expand to as
many as 48 projectors simply by connecting additional Magicians.
Connect to your computer using a telephone base cord and adapter shipped with the unit.
Requires no add-in circuit boards or expansion slots. Retains commands while power is off,
yet requires no batteries or backup power supply. Steps through stored commands manually
at the touch of the space bar or fully automatically.
A standard projector remote control can be used to step through stored commands
manually at the touch of the FORWARD button or fully automatically without
being connected to a computer.
Connects to one track of a stereo cassette recorder (or any other multi-track recorder)
using standard audio cables. Synchronizes stored commands with a sound track without
being connected to a computer. Forces projectors to advance or retract until
properly synchronized, even if the sound track is started in the middle or partially
rewound or fast-forwarded during playback. Maintains synchronization even if
portions of the sound track are damaged.
Connects to other Magician units using a standard telephone base cord. Controls
up to three projectors per unit (up to 48 projectors total). Each unit executes up to 1000
commands per second. Sends stored commands to tape and accepts taped commands for
input-allowing commands to be loaded into the unit without the use of a computer.
Two versions of the Magician are available and they are functionally identical.
The original Magician controls up to three Kodak Carousel® or Ektagraphic®
projectors. The Magician/EP controls up to three Kodak Ektapro® projectors. Some
of the advantages of the Magician/EP Ektapro projector combination include faster slide
changes, faster slide positioning when re-syncing, automatic re-syncing if power is lost
to any or all projectors, input power of 100 to 240 VAC - 50/60Hz, and automatic lamp
change over if a lamp burns out. Up to 16 Magician or Magician/EP units (in
any combination) can be connected together to control up to 48 projectors.
Creating better slide shows has never been easier!
All you need to create dazzling multi-image presentations is a Magician(TM)
computerized dissolve unit and the TopHat(TM)
Presentation Manager - the Windows software package that makes it easier than ever to plan
effective multi-projector slide shows.
The TopHat Presentation Manager can select the projector and calculate the slot number
for every slide in your show, or let you specify any sequence or combination of projectors
desired. Either way, it stores a complete description of every slide and carries out the
following commands as needed:
Commands
- Special Effects Commands
- ADVANCE. Causes specified projectors to advance.
- BACKUP. Causes specified projectors to back up.
- HOME. Extinguishes lamps and returns trays to starting positions, ready for next
presentation.
- QUICK CUT/NORMAL CUT. Switches from one projector to another instantly or as soon
as the first projector bulb darkens.
- DISSOLVE 0.5,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12,16. Dissolves from one projector to another at
digitally times rates ranging from one-half to 16 seconds, with repeatability to the
nearest hundredth of a second.
- FREEZE. Stops dissolves in progress and holds lamps at current brightness.
- DOUSE. Turns lamps off and on at a specified rate while dissolves are in
progress.
- LOOP. Causes a series of effects to be repeated a specified number of times.
- SIZE. Tells dissolve unit what size trays are being used in each projector.
- Note: These commands can be sequenced in any combination desired to create animation,
flips, alternating flash and other effects.
- List Commands
- LINE#. Moves the cursor to a specified command.
- STORE. Stores a list of special effects commands on disk.
- RETRIEVE. Retrieves a list of special effects commands from disk.
- CLEAR. Clears a list of special effects commands from the screen to prepare the
way for a new list.
- PRINT. Prints a list of special effects commands, including slide descriptions
and slot numbers.
- TRANSFER. Transfers a list of special effects commands from your computer to
dissolve unit.
- Magician Commands
- MANUAL STEP. Tells the dissolve unit to step through your special effects
manually as you press the space bar.
- AUTO STEP. Tells the dissolve unit to step through your special effects
automatically.
- VIEW REALTIME. Displays special effects commands on the computer screen during
synchronized playback.
- Edit Commands
- COPY, MOVE & PASTE. Allows you to copy or move a section of your Command List
to another area or to another list. You can save a section of a command list to a disk
file and combine several lists that are on disk into a single list.
- EDIT REALTIME. Adjusts timing of special effects at a touch of the space bar
during synchronized playback. Allows complex effects to be synchronized perfectly with
specific portions of a sound track.
- Projector Commands
- POSITION. Tells projectors to position themselves for execution of a particular
special effects command.
- LAMPS. Extends lamp life and eliminates unnecessary heat by disabling projector
lamps when they're not needed.
- Recorder Commands
- TIME SIGNAL OUT. Tells the dissolve unit to output a time code signal to your
tape recorder, so your soundtrack can incorporate time code data needed by the dissolve
unit during synchronized playback.
- COMMAND LIST OUT. Tells the dissolve unit to output special effects commands to
your tape recorder for backup purposes, so they can be reloaded into the dissolve unit
later, if necessary, without the help of a computer.
- DUPLICATE TAPE. Tells the dissolve unit to monitor one tape and output an
identical first-generation signal to another tape. Prevents signal deterioration when
duplicating a time code tape or special effects tape.
The TopHat Presentation Manager software is designed for use on PC
computers using any version of Windows. The Magician(TM) can be used with
